The winner of no fewer than nine Academy Awards, this movie stars Ralph Fiennes as an unknown soldier during World War II and Juliette Binoche as the nurse who comes to love him. The film is divided between exploring the man's past, which is a convoluted story of romance and betrayal, and his present of love and redemption.
6. An Officer and a Gentleman
This romantic movie starring Debra Winger and Richard Gere explores the true ups and downs of any relation. It is about an individual who realizes his inner strength after he enters an office. He woos a young factory worker but realizes it only later. The movie ends with his happy realization and their union.
7. Chocolat
Chocolate. Juliette Binoche. Johnny Depp. Enough said. Ok, I'll elaborate. It's lent and Binoche's character brings chocolate to town. She tempts the locals with her chocolate creations and while in the small French town meets Depp, a gypsy.
8. Across The Universe
This musical is loosely tied around the stories taken from more than 30 Beatles songs. The plot revolves around Jude (named after the character from Hey Jude) and Lucy (Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds) who move to New York City to pursue their artistic dreams.
9. A Walk To Remember
In this Nicholas Spark novel-turned-movie Mandy Moore plays a girl with leukemia whose life drastically changes when she meets a boy who is her exact opposite, and warns him not to fall in love with her.
10. Dirty Dancing
Dirty Dancing is another romantic classic featuring a great performance by the much-missed Patrick Swayze, starring across from Jennifer Grey in this beloved coming-of-age drama. It tells the story of a young woman who escapes her controlling father, and ultimately finds herself, with the help of a sizzling dance instructor who isn't afraid to break the rules.
